Winner of the Mammoth Jury Prize in the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and recipient of essential and box-office acclaim in Asia, I jumped at the chance to eye Park Chan Wook’s (Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) “THIRST”. The film is a horror-satirical drama that explores the gloomy bestial side of humanity that is quite bizarre, even creepy on occasion, but never for one exiguous does the film relent in exploring the psyche that comes from alienation and loneliness, while becoming a slave of cherish and lust.

Sang Hyun (Song Kang-Ho, The Host, Memories of Destroy) is a Catholic priest who volunteers in a local hospital. He provides last rites when primary as well emotional befriend to its patients. Father Hyun is well-respected but he secretly suffers from emotions that can be defined as doubt, as he witnesses the dismal world around him. Yet, he cherishes life, so he volunteers to occupy section in an experiment to eradicate the lethal EV virus, which is a threat to every Caucasian and Asian male. Father Hyun becomes stricken with the deadly virus and a blood transfusion is ordered up for him to establish his life; in turn he becomes the first survivor of the deadly virus and some folks start to regard him as a saint. But soon after his original lease on life, Hyun finds out that the blood he had received is infected and he is now living as a vampire that only the consumption of human blood can stave off the virus.

Father Hyun struggles with his unusual found carnal desire for blood, and now also, his faith is do to the test when a childhood friend’s wife, Tae-Ju (sexy Kim Ok-Vin) comes to him to run the life she knew all her life. Sang-Hyun is now overwhelmed with his desires of the flesh, as he plunges deep within the world of carnal and sensual desires that brings him in intimate terms with the Seven Deadly Sins…

Park Chan-Wook is one clever director in creating a recent buy on the vampire lore that blends the elements of the Seven Deadly Sins; Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Greed, Pride, Wrath and Envy. The vampirism as seen by Park’s rendition does have similarities to the established myths about vampires; vulnerability to sunlight, superhuman strength and run, with a strong need for human blood–curiously this vampire does not grow fangs. The need for human blood is notable to stave off the virus that somewhat touches on the sin of Gluttony. Lust and Envy is represented through Father Hyun’s desire for Kang-Woo’s (Shin Ha-Kyun) wife. Pride is represented when Hyun allows himself to be seen as a “Saint” at first. Sloth when he gains lesions and when he has to live in a dirty basement. Greed for life as he becomes timid of dying and hungry for companionship. Wrath as Hyun is led to destroy and he is brought face to face with the consequences of his actions. Vampirism becomes seen as the ultimate root of base in the eyes of Father Hyun, but in some ironic manner, it all frees him of his inhibitions.

Song Kang-Ho is one VERY versatile actor. The man has played different roles throughout his career and he is clearly the suitable man for the role of Father Hyun. Hyun becomes a compelling character as we witness him torn between the need to survive while avoiding the need to extinguish. “God feeds even the birds in the sky”, so Hyun resorts to slowly drinking the blood for comatose patients in the hospital (but never killing them) and people who wish to commit suicide. He also tries to overcome his lustful thoughts by hitting his thighs to overcome an erection. Curiously, Hyun becomes more aware of himself when he became a vampire; he realizes exactly who he is as he finds himself leaving the Order. Tae-Ju is one imbalanced woman who is manipulative of any set. She seduces the grand priest and manipulates him into believing that she is an abused wife; she is a woman torn between her reliance on her husband and the need to be free (as symbolized by her constant running at night) . The sex scenes between Kang-Ho and Ok-Vin are quite erotically creepy at times, and very graphic; comparable to some Japanese pink films.

The film’s takes up a darkly satirical tone that becomes weirder and darker as the film progresses, yet, it also becomes funnier, more bizarre and grittier. There is one very bizarre scene when Hyun and Tae-ju is having sex, with a vision of Tae-ju’s tedious husband sandwiched between them to bring the guilt of the murderous deed into exposition. While the first half of the film brings the weaknesses of the flesh with Hyun’s character, the second half progresses in bringing its consequences. Hyun is overly obsessed with sexy Tae-ju as he would do whatever it takes to be with her, even though he is aware that she is somewhat imbalanced, she is all he has and he turns her; remarkable to his regret later. While Hyun would avoid killing a human for his need, Tae-ju becomes drunk with power, as she doesn’t mind killing at all. It is a testament to Park’s skills as director as the position revolves around his characters; that somewhat touches upon clear definitions of being a monster as well as how you wield positive abilities, with the definition of being human coming paunchy circle in the screenplay. I loved the map Father Hyun began to atone for his sins one by one. He also gets rid of his “Saintly” image by letting himself be caught with a woman that led to him becoming scorned.

It is hard for me to obtain flaws in the script, the metaphors and symbols are executed masterfully; even the supporting characters are necessary vehicles in fleshing out the main protagonists. I voice if one wanted to nit-pick, one may say that the paralysis of Tae-ju’s mother-in-law (played by Kim Hae-Sook) felt a itsy-bitsy forced to generate some humor. Also, it can be argued that Tae-ju’s character isn’t as well written as Father Hyun’s. Quiet, these flaws are very minor as Park Chan-Wook successfully brings us to a world elephantine of darkness and very GRIM humor with an atmosphere that resembles a tale and respectable cinematography to match. “Thirst” isn’t a comedy, but it is amusing in a procedure that is both creepy and unlit at the same time. The film also has a obedient section of blood and some gore, and yes, quite a obliging number of nudity and sex. (It is also the first mainstream Korean film that features male chubby frontal nudity)

“Thirst” is ultimately a success. Park Chan Wook was able to approach up with a graceful film that is chunky of elegy, while exploring the flaws of the human mind, that treats vampirism as a cause for the realization of one’s carnal desires in incorporating a Catholic overtone. I really loved the manner in which Park executed this unique vampire film that BOLDLY dares to be different. It is not a dread film per se, but its dismay elements arrive from the Fears of making the contemptible decisions.

Definitely lyrical, darkly satirical, often Ironic and so erotically sexy, yet, so engagingly handsome with compelling characters, Park Chan Wook’s “Thirst” is destined to achieve a sizable cult following.

Hegemonic masculinity and violence definitely runs rampant in this series; that being said, this anime is obviously not for young viewers. The main character’s mother is a bit on the nut-so side, the father isn’t too far gradual, and the person on the front of the 1st season’s box there is supposed to be 13-years-old. Judging from all of those things it should be fair sure that this is not a brain food anime. It’s, more or less, fighting, fighting, and more fighting. When I bought this series I went in expecting as distinguished and therefore was not disappointed. I was actually very elated with this retract.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baki the Grappler : Season 2 Box Set! Click Here

The best advice that I can give you is that if you don’t mind watching something that’s like a UFC/Mortal Combat hybrid saturated in extremely heavy `WTF’ overtones (for lack of a better example), then this is the anime for you. If you’re looking for something that you can seriously eye and evaluate for “deeper meanings” and that has a “grade ‘A’ site”, then don’t even bother. It’s a fighting anime; nothing more, nothing less. So don’t go in expecting to explore considerable more than that or you’ll have otherwise wasted both your time and your money.

This is an Anime that I have heard people rave about. I honestly did not like it. The premise is that a fighting tournament is taking dwelling to settle the best fighter in the world. Each fight is extremely stupid and all of the fighters are generic and tiresome. There is puny or no character development, period. The animation is inconsistent (several characters examine completely different during different episodes.) The prove ends in a letdown fight between Baki and His Brother (who he doesn’t know is his brother until come the time of the fight.) This is an anime that I would avoid personally, but some individuals may like it. If you are into tournament style anime, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, and others are all better at showing tournament fighting than this reveal.

I’m VERY indignant that we’re finally going to spy another season invent it to DVD. However, I do have a minor complaint:

Season TWO consists of “22 episodes” and three are “two-part” episodes (making the dependable “whole episode” count “19″) . Here is a list of the “season two” episodes:

The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet Dracula (Fragment 1) - 09/11/77

The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet Dracula (Portion 2) - 09/18/77

Mystery Of The Avalanche Drawl - 12/26/78

Death Surf - 03/12/78

Arson and Aged Lace - 03/31/78

The Campus Scare - 05/06/78

“Season Three” consists of only “10 episodes” and two are “two parts” (which basically makes it an “8 episode” season) . I consider that it would have made more sense to release a “season two AND season three” combo box spot. I realize that it would have added to the cost, but then we may ruin up having to wait a couple more years for the final “10″ (”8″) episodes. Let’s hope not!!

This series is standard “Glen Larson” material and Immense nostalgia entertainment! The chemistry of the cast helps to drive the series and accomplish it a light hearted, fun, and quite appetizing viewing experience!

-JM

Hate to sound like a demented fan - but I can’t wait! This is the season that features the cross-over episodes of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet Dracula/ Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet the Hollywood Phantom. Plus I hope this has the “rare” Christmas ep of Nancy Drew - Will the Proper Santa Claus… As mentioned, the major disappointment comes with Pamela Sue Martin’s departure. In an interview she said she didn’t want to turn into the girl that said - you boys solve the mystery while I go call the police. And clear enough that’s what happened to the unique Nancy. If anybody recalls - the first episode of Janet Louise Johnson as Nancy was one of the most idiotic episodes ever. First, her Nancy has been missing for months, kidnapped and held captive by an former geezer. That Nancy couldn’t derive out of that one herself was so preposterous. Then - to add further insult to injury, the Hardy Boys have to reach rescue her and all she does the entire time is exclaim. Pamela’s version of Nancy would’ve gotten out long before the Hardy Boys got there. Examine the Dracula and Phantom episodes and search for how well she holds her believe against the boys!

A made-for-TV (HBO) movie that is fair outstanding. It captures in a very realistic manner how the World Series in 2001 related to the fear of 9/11 the prior month. The movie also shows the human side of these distinguished baseball athletes in a procedure that we rarely peek. If you are not moved by Nine Innings from Ground Zero, you need to check to watch that you have a pulse.

Being a west-coast sports fan,I have always hated the Yankees. I don’t know what got me into buying this dvd but I must say that I am joyful I did. This documentary is the legend about the city of Current York and one of their most beloved sports teams getting by one of the most horrific events in both Recent York and American History…9/11. If this tragedy was the illness, then the savor of Yankee baseball was the cure. While watching “Nine innings from ground zero”,my disfavor towards this team was achieve aside while watching it as I got to leer the side of Yankee stars that one doesn’t spy off the field. From the young girl who met Derek Jeter after he learned through her letter that she lost her father in the towers…to the firefighters who set aside on a smile thanks to a surprise visit from Yankee players…to the group of family members of 9/11 victims who got to relieve the world series,I was deeply moved by this documentary. We,the sports fans, are so worn to hearing stories about too many sport stars who procure in distress with the law or stars who complain about a 7 to 8 figure contract not being enough, that we seem to forget about the few out there who have alot of edifying in them. The documentary even has an interview with President George Bush that I am cheerful was included. I don’t care if the war in Iraq is proper or gross nor do I care what party he is. It is a proud moment watching the leader of your country throw out the first pitch at the 2001 World Series while the crowd chants…U-S-A…U-S-A!!! I possess this first pitch is the most memorable one on film to date. After watching Nine innings…,am I detached a Yankee hater? Yeah, but I appreciate them for bringing hope and smiles to the people of Recent York. This dvd is recommended to both the sports fan and non-sports fan. All will not be disappointed. “It’s a hit”!

Something’s Gotta Give is one of the year’s best films and best comedies as it teams up Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, who seemed to cherish every exiguous they shared onscreen. Nicholson plays a man who only dates girls under 30 and is disturbed to fetch he can topple in admire with a woman his bear age, played by Diane Keaton, who has never looked better. She gives her best performance since she won an Oscar for Annie Hall and should be on her intention to another as a very career sucessful woman who has no confidence with men. It is mammoth to examine her reaction to both Nicholson’s and Keanu Reeves’ character. Nicholson and Keaton light up the hide with every scene they are in and Amanada Peet and Reeves do very well in their supporting role, as does the underused Frances McDormand as Keaton’s sister. Nancy Meyers, who had a stout hit with What Women Want, does a considerable better job here and makes for a expansive adult romantic comedy featuring actors over 50. A spacious film that will be remembered.

For all the reviews citing cliches in this film, it was surprising to me that the majority failed to mention that the screenplay was fantastic. There are a couple of twists in the old status lines of your typical romantic comedy, but what I felt was so special about this one in particular was that it didn’t insult my intelligence. I felt the relationships were believable - especially the December/May relationship relationship that unfolded between Reeves and Keaton. Is it that hard to gain? Older women marrying younger men is a growing trend and I applaud the script for taking that chance. I also liked that there wasn’t two of the more current romantic comedy dwelling devices: 1) a misunderstanding ala “Three’s Company” or the 2) soap opera style standoffs between fancy triangles. Not a single one in this movie and I understanding that the script treated the characters with a level of maturity that was more in line with reality than Hollywood.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Something’s Gotta Give! Click Here

If you want to leer Jack and Keanu fight at the extinguish or Amanda Peet chew out her Mom (Keaton) - you won’t obtain it. Go survey a Meg Ryan movie instead.

Other highlights from my perspective:

A clever incorporation of IM and the internet without it being the focal point of the movie.

Some fabulous beach scenes that will remain classic - 50 years from now they will be stale for an Oscar night montage.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Something’s Gotta Give! Click Here

Character arcs - they may seem simplistic and perhaps packaged rapidly (esp. with the Peet character), but all the characters form.
The cerebral flavor of the movie in general. If the average moviegoer can’t enjoy the importance of “eating pancakes” in a obvious scene then perhaps I suggest they are missing the point of that scene.
I am a expansive Jack fan and you judge he is playing himself, but until those credits are rolling at the demolish does he flash that trademark smile in the restaurant. Not only did that simple act salvage applause in the theater when I saw the movie, but symbolized that he is complete - being himself again despite severing his bachelor ways. That was a shiny subtlety that personified the whole movie, in my notion.

“The Life and Narrative of Wyatt Earp” was critical in television history as it, “Cheyenne,” and “Gunsmoke” were among the very first of the so called “adult Westerns” to be broadcast on network television. Prospective buyers of this DVD area should be aware that this 2005 release is not a season 1 release, but rather a “best of” collection of episodes that arrived with very tiny fanfare. For some fans of the series, that might be enough to build them off but, frankly, this is a “best of” DVD release with a incompatibility. There is an attempt to note the 26 episodes in this collection in chronological order and focus on the historical events in the life of Wyatt Earp (at least as distinguished as a weekly, non-documentary TV series allows), factual up through the climactic gunfight at the O.K. Corral. There are also reveal day interviews with star Hugh O’Brian and Mason Dinehart III, who played Bat Masterson in the early years of the series, plus a historical timeline about the dependable Wyatt Earp and other members of the Earp family. For a series that began broadcasts in 1955, it was somewhat surprising to peek this welcome bonus material included and one has to credit the independent releasing company, Rhino Home Video, with delivering one of the better vintage TV-on-DVD packages in new memory.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp - From Ellsworth to Tombstone! Click Here

As might be expected for a 50 year old-fashioned television series, there are occasional film specks and grain explain on the episodes, at least on the sampling of episodes that I’ve watched on disc 1. But, for the most fragment, the episodes perceive fairly crisp, and the minute imperfections found shouldn’t deter anyone enthusiastic in this series; it’s a worthwhile release for fans of “Wyatt Earp” and classic TV Westerns, in general.

The TV Western fan has been poorly served in DVD releases generally, although with the release of season sets for ‘Have Gun Will Travel’ & season 1 of ‘Wanted Expressionless or Alive’ recently and the forthcoming ‘Gunsmoke’ DVD companies may have perhaps realised there is a market for these customary series.

I contemplate most fans would grasp a season by season release rather than a ‘best of’ collection however we probably have to steal what we can come by.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp - From Ellsworth to Tombstone! Click Here

I was surprised and joyful that Rhino have picked up on ‘The Life & Memoir of Wyatt Earp’an safe example of the genre. Although this is basically a ‘best of’ collection some notion has obviously gone into it.Rather than random episodes they have structured it to camouflage Earps career from Ellswoth to Tombstone.

Disc 1 includes the very first episode and chronicles Wyatts decision to become a marshal and his subsequent go to Wichita.Discs 2 & 3 follow his moves to Dodge City & Tombstone whilst Disc 4 is mild of the last 5 episodes in the series which dealt with the build-up and gunfight at the OK Corral and its aftermath.

There are also interviews with Hugh O’Brian & Mason Dinehart(who played Bat Masterson), a timeline of Earps career and information about the executive producer as extras.

Picture quality is very noble with nice though-provoking prints and sound.

It is nicely packaged in a slip-case with fold out interior that has some colour photos of O’Brian in the role.

Overall this is an superior release, congratulations to Rhino for taking some time and anxiety to invent it an curious package.

If you are a TV western fan I would highly recommend you score this.

The extended DVD of “Return of the King” is filled with many recent and extended scenes that will please fans who fancy Tolkien’s current legend. The July 26, 2004 San Diego Silly Convention featured a preview of many scenes, some introduced by Peter Jackson himself. (Some of these scenes were recently featured in the sneak preview trailer at Lord of the Rings.catch, although now it seems to have been removed) . In reference to a couple of reviews on the board here — if you’re waiting anxiously for the Scouring of the Shire, don’t occupy your breath. That segment was NEVER filmed by Jackson, therefore it will NOT be included in the extended edition DVD. But there ARE plenty of ample scenes to be included:

· We hear Christopher Lee’s booming stutter echoed over a black cloak that lightened to philosophize Saruman on top of Orthanc. He warns our heroes of something festering in the heart of Middle-earth and that they will all die.

· We gaze Frodo and Sam in their Orc disguises joining the column of Orcs as they march out of Mordor.

· There are numerous shots of the Houses of Healing with Faramir, Eowyn, and Merry all seen.

· A lot more looks to be added to the siege of Minas Tirith, as there was a bunch of novel battle footage.

· Frodo and Sam venture into the Crossroads and a few clips from that fraction were included.

· The Mouth of Sauron is featured beautiful heavily. If you’ve played EA’s Return of the King video game you’ll glance the scene. The Mouth of Sauron rides out of the Murky Gate and presents Frodo’s mithril coat to the Fellowship.

· Aragorn reveals himself to Sauron by approaching the Palantir in Minas Tirith and wields Anduril to reveal that the Heir of Elendil was alive.

· We obtain to eye more of Saruman later in the preview when he knocks Wormtongue down and also fires a giant fireball from his staff that engulfs Gandalf on Shadowfax.

· There’s more of Frodo and Sam in Mordor after they join the column of Orcs and before they discard their disguises. In one scene, Sam looks to the sad sky of Mordor and tells Frodo that he can ogle light as one slight star can be seen glimmering through the clouds.

· And yes, we will finally accept to observe Gandalf facing down the Witch King. It happens exactly as we’ve seen, but when Gandalf holds up his staff the Witch King pulls out his sword and holds it to the sky where it spouts flames. As he brings it down, the air around the burning sword is distorted.

That was impartial the preview. Modern Line treated fans to three bulky clips, with the third introduced by Peter Jackson himself:

· There was a nice scene of Pippin and Faramir in Gondor where Faramir explains to the Hobbit how the petite Gondorian armor he was wearing belonged to a young son of the Steward when he was a kid. Faramir further explains how Boromir was always the soldier and he wasn’t.

· A scene that takes space about five days after they were healed by Aragorn features Faramir and Eowyn on a balcony at the Houses of Healing where Eowyn falls for Faramir.

· The Paths of the Dumb is extended from where it ends in the theatrical nick. After Aragorn poses his offer, the plain laugh and go befriend into the walls. A massive earthquake starts, and the Three Hunters must dash an avalanche of millions of skulls.

· Described, but not shown, another scene expanded in this edition is the scene where Pippin finds Merry on the battlefield. Now, Pippin searches the field for an entire day after everyone else has gone attend into the city. He finally locates Merry at night in the modern version of the scene.

Unprejudiced a few weeks to go till the “Return of the King” extended edition hits the stores!

Peter Jackson proved me foul when I said, like many people, that Lord of the Rings would be a bust: Spielberg-adventure at best, Lucas-disaster at worst. Had I known Tolkien’s classic was in the hands of the guy who directed Graceful Creatures, I would have been more optimistic. As it turns out, my expectations were completely overturned. In some ways the films are actually better than the books, especially in terms of emotional power. Competent actors, improbable cinematography, and a intellectual music pick up combine to offer us Middle-Earth as we’d never imagined it.

Fellowship of the Ring is the most polished film, with its resplendent episodic pacing. We initiate in the idyllic world of the hobbits and hover with Ringwraiths hot on our heels; we rest in Elrond’s sanctuary and topple into Moria; we approach out grieving and console ourselves in Galadriel’s sterling (yet unsettling) dream-wood, and then wind up surrounded by Uruk-hai. This is a quintessential fantasy road-journey containing three episodes within an episode, each beginning in a haven and followed by a unlit plod. The pacing is flawless, and the station unfolds to a perfect beat.

Two Towers is the ambiguous film. It’s superior (or at least the extended version is) but structured in a contrivance that the hobbits become sidelined by the Rohan account. As they are the soul of Tolkien’s yarn, we feel slightly nonplussed at their consignment to B-storylines. Ironically, the film is a showcase for cgi characters Gollum and Treebeard, who manage to prefer the present from within these storylines.

Return of the King is the most dramatic film, tragic on almost a biblical level, and certainly the most satisfying. I can understand why Elijah Wood calls it “better than one and two combined”. It centers on the hopeless mission to Mount Doom, which, as every fan knows, is the heart of the record. Around this we’re bombarded by apocalyptic chaos and destruction on the Pelennor Fields, followed by Aragorn’s hopeless march on the Dark Gate. We achieve at the Grey Havens, the best ending in literary and cinematic history, which encapsulates all of Tolkien’s themes: courage, friendship, suffering, and passing on. It objective doesn’t derive better than this.

Peter Jackson deserves more accolades than I’m generous of heaping to the point of overkill. Minor quibbles aside, the extended versions of these films are masterpieces to be treasured as considerable as the books. Tolkien’s classic may be pure, but the movie’s cinematography takes us where even the written word cannot go. Tolkien’s writing is irreplaceable, but Howard Shore’s music taps deeper into Middle-Earth’s soul. The text is sacred, but the scriptwriters changed it anyway so that it could actually work on conceal. The entire project has been too edifying to be suitable, and I’m level-headed in alarm of it.

In July is a incredible appreciate sage that offers mighty laughter and entertainment as the audience probably can narrate to the feelings of both Daniel and Juli. Most of the anecdote is told in a flashback as Daniel tells his myth for a mysterious man with a corpse in the trunk, which adds a level of suspense to the film. In the extinguish, Faith Akin has directed a terrific cinematic experience that can lighten the heaviest of hearts and section some hope for those in need of a cheering up.

This is an absolutely improbable film. Gorgeous cinematography, wonderfully infectious music, immense storyline and three fine girls. Besides the two actors already mentioned I want to also credit Mehmet Kurtulus and Idil Uner for their first rate supporting roles.

Don Knotts is a national worship, one of the most naturally gifted silly actors the world has ever seen. As expansive a Don Knotts fan as I have always been, and as many times as I have seen all of the outmoded episodes of The Andy Griffith Explain, I had actually never seen any of Knotts’ classic comedies from the tedious 1960s. This Reluctant Hero Pack has helped alleviate this quandary. Determined, I could have spent four times as remarkable money and acquired each of these four films on individual DVDs, but frugality is one of the many small-town American virtues Don Knotts’ characters usually embodied. These films have been compressed so that they will all fit on one double-sided DVD, but there is nothing unfavorable with the report quality of this disk whatsoever. It’s not like you’re missing out on any special features on the individual offerings, either; unfortunately, there are also next to no special features on this Reluctant Hero pack - all you net are three of the four films’ trailers. Tranquil, what matters are the films themselves, and you’re guaranteed to have over six and a half hours of unadulterated laughter with these four Don Knotts classics.

The four films included here are not necessarily Don Knotts’ best four movies, but each of them is hilarious. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken puts Don Knotts inside a shy house overnight. Remember how comic that disquieted house episode of The Andy Griffith Expose was? Well, this film is even funnier. It also features the glorious Joan Staley as the object of affection of Knotts’ character. His character, by the contrivance, is a truly reluctant hero, one whose heroics and honesty are assign to an shameful test. Then you have The Reluctant Astronaut, which I think to be the funniest of the four films included here. Knotts plays a grown man who goes off - very reluctantly - to become an astronaut - despite the fact that he is haunted of heights. Once he gets to Houston, he finds out his job is actually that of a janitor rather than a spaceman, and he is forced to live a lie because he is terrorized to admit the truth to his proud father. Unbiased when everything falls apart for him, though, he gets the chance to set everything upright - if he can muster up the courage to respond the valorous call.

The Shakiest Gun in the West pits Knotts in the role of a newly graduated dentist who goes West to spread oral hygiene along the frontier. Along the contrivance, he finds himself suddenly married to a mysterious redhead with all sorts of secrets. Despite his certain weaknesses in the gun-fighting department (they call this film The Shakiest Gun in the West for a reason), he finds himself well-known as a fierce Indian-killer and hero of the West. At the time, he doesn’t realize how undeserving he is of the respect he garners, but he does obtain the chance to indicate himself a correct hero in the kill.

The last of the four films included here, The Savor God, is unlike any other Don Knotts film. This was a film diagram ahead of its time, as it addresses issues of sexual behavior and censorship head-on in an hysterically satirical manner. Knotts plays a troubled publisher of a bird magazine who somehow ends up becoming famed as the country’s premier playboy and smut peddler, the very standard bearer of the forces of the sexual revolution. This film has garnered a retroactive PG-13 rating, so it is not quite the apt family film that the three other movies are, but there is nothing here that the most sheltered five-year-old hasn’t already seen and heard in this day and age.

Why am I even trying to give a expeditiously description of these films? This is, after all, Don Knotts we’re talking about, so you know genuine and well these movies are basically guaranteed to be hilarious. Don’t philosophize yourself - especially at this label - of the enjoyment of four classic films from one of America’s funniest and most beloved amusing actors.

This DVD is a good bargain compiling 4 of Don Knotts’ most well-liked films onto one nicely priced disc! This DVD collects 4 of the 5 films that Knotts made in the 60s where he had the lead role (the exception being 1964’s “The Astonishing Mr. Limpet”) . The DVD is a flip disc with two films on each side. Side A has “The Ghost & Mr. Chicken” and “The Reluctant Astronaut”, while side B has “The Shakiest Gun in the West” and “The Appreciate God? “. Another expansive aspect is that these films are in chronological order of novel release from 1966-1969. In other words, these 4 films were released support to aid. For those that are fans of Knotts’ films or the live action Disney films of the 60s & 70s, these will be a rare treat to gain. Colossal fun, exceptable for the entire family (with the possible exception of “The Care For God? ” which contains some unruffled adult humor, obviously tame by today’s standard, but smooth maybe execrable for some ages) . Knotts plays almost the same character in every film and honest as the title of the spot implies, he is at first reluctant, then the hero. For those strange with the films, here are some very brief plots:

Side A

The Ghost & Mr. Chicken (1966) - Knotts is Luther Heggs, a local wanna be reporter who stays a night in the local vexed house on a dare. After Arthur witnesses some spooky happenings, no one believes him, including his boss George Beckett (Dick Sargent) . It’s up to Arthur to show to the town that the feeble house has a ghost. Considered to be one of Knott’s most successful films.

The Reluctant Astronaut (1967) - Knotts stars as Roy Fleming, employee at the local carnival where he dresses up as an astronaut. After his Dad sends his application to NASA, Roy is actually contacted, but to be a janitor! Luckily Major Fred Gifford (Leslie Nielsen with shadowy hair!) gives him a spacious chance to win a test flight into spot. Classic stuff.

Side B

The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968) - from the same director as Mr. Chicken, Knotts plays Dr. Jesse W. Heywood, a nervous dentist who you’d deem would be the last guy to salvage interested with gun selling awful guys. Along the plan he meets a graceful sharpshooting outlaw, Penelope ‘Bad Penny’ Cushings (Barbara Rhodes) . You might call this film a precursor to the Apple Dumpling Gang films where Knotts starred alongside Tim Conway.

The Care For God? (1969) - definitely the most unusual in the bunch because of it’s subject matter. Knotts plays Abner Audubon Peacock, owner of Peacock Magazine for bird watchers. Abner himself is a bird watcher and is on the verge of losing his magazine when a second party offers to relieve him sustain publishing it. While Abner is away collecting photos for his return teach, he arrives home to score his magazine is being old-fashioned to publish pornography! For me this was the most exquisite only because I had never seen it and watching Knotts within the context of the subject was hilarious. Again the humor is mostly for young adults and older here, the film was actually rerated PG-13 while all three other films are NR or G ratings.

I highly recommend the state to fans of the genre or style. For Don Knotts fans it’s a no brainer. 4 colossal films on one shameful priced DVD. I can advise you all four films stare and sound ample. Also recommended with Don Knotts:

The Fantastic Mr. Limpet (1964)

The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975)

Gus (1976)

The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979)
